Overview
Dr Bernstein was educated at Highgate School, King’s College Cambridge (entrance exhibitioner and senior scholar) and University College London Medical School (entrance exhibitioner).
He trained in rheumatology at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School and in the USA, after experience at the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases, National Heart Hospital and several London teaching hospitals. He maintains CPD and GMC revalidation.
He was a council member of Lupus UK and the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine, and founding Chairman of the Fibromyalgia Association UK.
His interests include fibromyalgia, regional musculoskeletal pain disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, spondylo-arthropathy, autoimmune diseases such as SLE, vasculitis, complex regional pain syndrome, hand/arm vibration syndrome, Raynaud’s syndrome, non-freezing cold injury, work-related musculoskeletal disorders.
He provides reports in personal injury (instructions C/D ~15/85) and medical negligence (C/D ~50/50) and gives evidence in Court about once a year.
